Delirious

Silent screams roared in her head.

Body numb.

Out the dirty window . . . it all blurred . . . . . . the graduation -—Nate . . . “Peeeter . . .?” . . . . . . so bad . . . hurt soo bad . . .—-oh the world -—it was rushing . . . Her heart . . . Shut the hell up! I’ll slit your goddamn throat!

Armstrong . . . but . . . Magnificent desolation . . . makes angels of us . . .

“Nooo!”

—kill you! . . .—fuck you . . .

. . . . health . . . you’re done!

I Can and I Will

Ajay jerked the wheel.

The Jeep slid sideways, stopping mere feet from a tree. He gunned it. The tires spun for a second before grabbing traction.

The license plate had been removed.

The oxygen vanished from his lungs. Ajay gasped as another panic attack crept upon him. The asshole planned this out. Why else would he have removed the license plate?

Thoughts of what this man planned on doing to and with Emily plagued his mind. His legs trembled with rage. His heart reeked with terror.

Coming alongside, Ajay turned the wheel, crashing his jeep into the sedan, spiraling both vehicles off the road.

When the Jeep skidded to a stop, he leapt over the door and raced toward the sedan. The passenger door opened and Emily's body tumbled out. With the passenger door still open, the car sped away leaving Emily and Ajay in a cloud of dust.

He dropped to his knees and clutched her hysterical, wild body, holding her tight. Her screams pierced the quiet of the night. He pressed the side of her face to his shoulder.

"Emms. It's Ajay. You're okay." Her body jerked and writhed attempting to break from his hold, but his arms locked around her.

"Shhhh. I got you. I'm going to keep you safe." He held her head in his hands forcing her to look at him. "Emms. Baby. You're okay. You're safe."

Her chest heaved with quick shallow breaths. "Try to slow your breathing. Calm down." She nodded but her breathing never slowed. "Try harder, baby."

“My pocket,” she rasped.

He slid a bottle of pills out. “You need one?”

“Yeah,” a wheezed breath.

He touched a pill to her trembling lips, waited until her dry tongue licked the tablet from the tip of his finger.

Then he carried her to his Jeep and lay her across the back seat but she immediately climbed to the front. Instinct screamed for him to chase down the psycho and take the guy out, but the instinct to get distance between Emms and this psycho was stronger.
